Structural investments in research and science will be amply recouped 

Structural investments in research and science, as described in the proposal from the Knowledge Coalition, will be amply recouped. This is the finding from an independent analysis undertaken by RaboResearch, which has calculated the effects of the Knowledge Coalition's plans on its own initiative.

The Netherlands must become Europe’s valorisation hotspot
The Netherlands must become Europe’s valorisation hotspot. This is the shared ambition of the Dutch universities, university medical centres and the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO). On 1 November, these knowledge institutes are together launching a plan to strengthen the national valorisation ecosystem. The goal is to have an absolutely world-class valorisation system in the Netherlands by 2030.

Universities pleased that physical education is fully possible again
The universities of the Netherlands are pleased that the government has indicated that, in principle, all education may once again take place on location. Pieter Duisenberg, president of the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU): 'It is very good news for the students and lecturers that we can return to the campus more or less normally again. We will examine how we can use the extra space safely and responsibly. We fully understand and will pay attention to vulnerable students and lecturers who do not feel safe now that the measures are being relaxed. As is already the case, the universities will continue to talk with them to find the best solution.'

The academic year has started: safely and responsibly
The new academic year is under way, and there were fantastic events to mark the start of the new year on 30 August (in Tilburg) and Monday, 6 September at the other 13 universities.
